Job Description
Step into a key structural engineering role with a firm delivering complex, mission-critical facilities, including cutting-edge data centres. You’ll join a team that values rigorous engineering, digital design excellence, and close collaboration with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to deliver safe, efficient, and buildable structures.
About the Role:
As a Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, and documentation of structural systems for data centres and industrial facilities, with a particular focus on piping support structures. You will work across the full project lifecycle, from concept through construction, ensuring structural integrity, code compliance, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. Your work will directly impact project quality, constructability, and schedule performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform structural analysis and design of building frames, foundations, and support structures using Bentley STAAD PRO and other engineering tools.
- Develop and coordinate detailed construction drawings, plans, and specifications using AutoCAD and BIM software (e.g., Revit).
- Design and detail structural supports for piping systems and related equipment in data centres and industrial environments.
- Review and interpret architectural and MEP drawings to integrate structural solutions and resolve clashes.
- Prepare engineering calculations, design reports, and technical documentation to support permitting, approvals, and construction.
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and contractors to address design issues and respond to RFIs.
- Conduct site visits to observe existing conditions, verify as-built information, and support construction administration activities.
- Ensure all structural designs comply with applicable building codes, standards, and client requirements.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in structural analysis and design for building and/or industrial projects.
- Proficiency with Bentley STAAD PRO for structural modelling and analysis.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD for producing and editing structural drawings.
- Hands-on experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit) for 3D modelling and coordination.
- Demonstrated experience preparing construction documentation and structural detailing.
- Familiarity with data centre or similar mission-critical facility projects.
- Experience designing structural supports for piping systems or process equipment.
- Solid understanding of relevant building codes, standards, and engineering practices.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with steel connection design and complex structural detailing.
- Exposure to seismic design and analysis for industrial or critical facilities.
- Familiarity with other structural analysis tools and plugins used in conjunction with STAAD PRO.
- Experience coordinating models and clash detection within a BIM environment.
- Prior involvement in fast-track or design-build project delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas, or the ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe, is strongly preferred.
- Membership in relevant professional bodies (e.g., ASCE, SEI) is an advantage.
If you’re a detail-focused Structural Engineer who enjoys complex projects and advanced digital tools, this role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-profile facilities and advance your career.
