Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 4AM - 2:30PM (10 hour shifts)
About the Role:
As a Quality Technician, you will perform detailed inspections and testing of mechanical components and assemblies to ensure they meet engineering specifications and quality standards. You will support production by identifying non-conformances early, documenting findings accurately, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive corrective actions. Your work will help maintain compliance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and relevant safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections on mechanical parts and assemblies using appropriate measuring tools and equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to verify dimensional and visual compliance.
- Conduct functional and dimensional testing in accordance with established procedures and test plans.
- Record inspection and test results in SAP and other quality systems, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
- Identify, document, and segregate non-conforming material, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action activities.
- Prepare clear, concise inspection reports and quality documentation for internal stakeholders and audits.
- Handle and move parts and assemblies safely using mechanical lifting equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Adhere to OSHA and site safety requirements, maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a quality inspection or quality technician role within a manufacturing, industrial, or engineering environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) and basic test equipment.
- Working knowledge of SAP for data entry, material tracking, and quality-related transactions.
- Demonstrated ability to produce accurate documentation and reports with strong attention to detail.
- Solid understanding of safety practices and OSHA compliance in a shop or production environment.
- Ability to safely operate mechanical lifting devices and handle heavy or awkward components.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a high-volume or heavy industrial manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
- Exposure to root cause analysis and basic problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys, fishbone diagrams).
- Experience supporting internal or external audits.
- Basic understanding of statistical techniques for inspection and sampling.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical certificate, trade school training, or associate degree in a mechanical, manufacturing, or quality-related discipline preferred.
- Formal training or certification in quality inspection (e.g., ASQ or equivalent) is an advantage.
- OSHA or safety-related training/certification beneficial.
