Job Description

Step into a hands-on role where your mechanical assembly skills directly support the production of critical industrial equipment. This is a contract opportunity with a busy manufacturing operation, offering varied work, steady hours, and the chance to work with valves, pumps, and precision assemblies in a fast-paced environment.

Shift: 5AM to 3:30PM, Monday through Friday; 5AM to 11AM, Saturdays and rare occasion Sunday work may be requested.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for assembling mechanical components and systems according to blueprints and schematics, ensuring products meet quality and safety standards. Working as part of a production team, you will use hand and power tools to build, fit, and align components, while performing basic troubleshooting to keep assemblies moving efficiently. Your attention to detail and adherence to OSHA guidelines will help maintain a safe, reliable, and high-performing operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and complete units using hand and power tools according to work instructions.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and assembly drawings to build and configure valves, pumps, and related equipment.
  • Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting on assemblies to identify misalignments, fit issues, and minor defects, making adjustments as needed.
  • Inspect parts and assemblies for quality, verifying dimensions, clearances, and proper operation before release.
  • Install and secure fasteners, fittings, seals, and other hardware to specified torque and assembly standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and handle materials, tools, and components safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to OSHA and site safety procedures, including proper use of PPE, lockout/tagout where applicable, and safe tool operation.
  • Document assembly activities, issues, and rework in accordance with production and quality requirements.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in mechanical assembly in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of common hand and power tools (e.g., wrenches, drills, torque tools, grinders).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and work instructions with minimal supervision.
  • Hands-on experience working with valves, pumps, or similar rotating/mechanical equipment.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills to diagnose and correct simple assembly and fit issues.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow standardized procedures and meet quality standards.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and handle components throughout the shift, within reasonable weight limits.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety practices in a shop or production environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in an oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial manufacturing setting.
  • Familiarity with torque specifications, precision measuring tools, and alignment techniques.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing, 5S, or continuous improvement environments.
  • Basic computer skills for accessing work orders, drawings, and recording production data.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Vocational or technical training in mechanical, industrial, or related fields preferred.
  • OSHA safety training or certification (e.g., OSHA 10) is an advantage.
  • Any relevant mechanical assembly or manufacturing certifications are beneficial but not required.

If you are a mechanically minded assembler who takes pride in precise, safe, and efficient work, this contract role offers an excellent opportunity to put your skills to use—apply now to be considered.
