About the Role:
You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing facility equipment and building systems to minimise downtime and extend asset life. Working across HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, you will respond to work orders, perform scheduled maintenance, and support continuous improvement of maintenance practices. Your work will help ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable environment for operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems in accordance with maintenance plans and manufacturer guidelines.
- Diagnose and repair HVAC equipment, including air handlers, condensers, compressors, and related components.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues on equipment and building systems, identifying faults and completing repairs or replacements as needed.
- Carry out mechanical repairs on motors, pumps, conveyors, and other facility equipment to restore proper operation.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics to support accurate installation, troubleshooting, and repair work.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment and components.
- Complete maintenance work orders, document findings and repairs, and communicate equipment status to supervisors or facility management.
- Inspect equipment and systems for potential issues, reporting hazards or needed corrective actions to prevent unplanned downtime.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician or similar role in an industrial, commercial, or facilities environment.
- Strong hands-on skills in preventive maintenance across HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, including both mechanical and basic electrical components.
- Solid experience with electrical troubleshooting on equipment and building systems, including identifying faults and replacing components.
- Proficiency in mechanical repair, including bearings, belts, motors, and basic alignment tasks.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Confident and safe use of a wide range of hand tools and power tools.
- Willingness to work a contract assignment with flexibility for shifts or call-outs as required by the facility.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial plant, or large commercial facility setting.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems) for work order and maintenance tracking.
- Basic knowledge of building automation systems or controls related to HVAC.
- Understanding of relevant safety standards and best practices in maintenance environments.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Vocational or technical training in HVAC, industrial maintenance, electrical, or a related field preferred.
- EPA Section 608 certification for handling refrigerants is an advantage.
- Relevant trade certifications in electrical, HVAC, or mechanical maintenance are desirable.
