About the Role:
As a Materials Handler, you will support day-to-day warehouse operations by receiving, storing, and distributing materials using forklifts and other handling equipment. You will maintain accurate inventory records in the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and ensure all materials are processed according to shipping and receiving procedures. Your work will directly impact on-time shipments, stock accuracy, and overall warehouse efficiency.
Shift: Monday - Friday, 7AM - 5:30PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Load, unload, move, and stage materials using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Receive incoming shipments, verify quantities and documentation, and enter data into the WMS.
- Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment according to work orders and shipping instructions.
- Maintain accurate inventory locations and counts through regular cycle counts and stock checks.
- Store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper labelling, organisation, and accessibility.
- Operate Warehouse Management Systems to record transactions, track inventory, and update order status.
- Inspect materials and packaging for damage or discrepancies and report issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work area in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in a warehouse or distribution environment in a materials handling role.
- Proficient forklift operation skills with a strong focus on safety and equipment care.
- Hands-on experience with inventory control processes in a warehouse setting.
- Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for inventory and order processing.
- Familiarity with standard shipping and receiving procedures and documentation.
- Ability to operate a variety of material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, reach trucks).
- Basic computer skills for data entry, email, and use of warehouse software.
- Ability to lift and move materials in line with role requirements and stand/walk for extended periods.
- Minimum 1 year of Oracle ERP Experience.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a high-volume distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Background working with barcode scanners and RF devices.
- Knowledge of lean warehousing practices or continuous improvement methods.
- Experience coordinating with carriers or logistics providers for outbound shipments.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Current or recent forklift certification preferred, or willingness to obtain.
- Any additional safety or warehouse operations training is an advantage.
