Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist to join our Katy team. This is a critical role responsible for the end-to-end creation, maintenance, and rework of complex tools, molds, dies, and fixtures used in our rubber molding production.

The ideal candidate is a "Subject Matter Expert" in Edgecam (or similar CAD/CAM software), capable of writing and editing programs from scratch without assistance, while also being a hands-on operator of both CNC and manual machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Precision Programming: Write and create CNC programs for Mills and Lathes from scratch using Edgecam or equivalent CAD/CAM software.

  • Full-Cycle Machining: Set up and operate CNC Mills/Lathes and manual equipment (mills, lathes, surface grinders) to produce high-quality molds and fixtures.

  • Tooling & Maintenance: Perform precision rework on existing molds and dies; perform occasional welding and torch use as required for tool repair.

  • Technical Interpretation: Study blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to determine dimensions, tolerances, and optimal sequence of operations.

  • Quality Control: Inspect all work using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) before passing to production.

  • Collaboration: Develop specifications from general descriptions; provide sketches/drawings to design personnel to resolve production or assembly problems.

  • Logistics: Safely transport raw materials and molds throughout the plant via forklift and crane.

  • Mentorship: Impart knowledge of procedures and machining techniques to other team members to ensure a highly competent workforce.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in machining tools, molds, and dies (specifically for rubber manufacturing or heavy industrial applications).

  • Software Mastery (#1 Priority): Proven ability to create CNC programs for both Mills and Lathes from scratch using Edgecam or similar CAD/CAM software.

  • Manual Proficiency: Expert-level skill in operating manual mills, lathes, and surface grinders.

  • Measurement: Expert in hand measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).

  • Certifications: High School Diploma/GED. Must be able to obtain/maintain Forklift and Crane certifications.

  • Testing: Must pass a Machinist competency test with a minimum score of 85%.

  • Safety Mindset: Ability to work injury-free in a union environment and adhere to all HSE standards.

Work Environment

  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6 AM – 2 PM. Must be flexible for daily and weekend overtime based on production workload.
