Job Description
The Mechanic is responsible for the safe, efficient, and timely maintenance and repair of surface equipment — including industrial OEM mechanical equipment such as trucks and operational units — within the Maintenance Base (MB). This role plays a direct part in ensuring equipment availability and on-time delivery to meet operational demands, while driving continuous improvement in maintenance efficiency, asset reliability, and cost of service delivery.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on assigned surface equipment in accordance with the applicable maintenance program and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategy
- Execute work orders through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), following standard work procedures
- Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics to identify mechanical issues and determine the most effective course of repair
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet Division quality standards, safety requirements, and equipment manufacturer specifications
Continuous Improvement
- Actively participate in the Maintenance Base continuous improvement culture, contributing to initiatives that improve asset utilization and reduce cost of service delivery (CoSD)
- Support efforts to reduce equipment turnaround time by minimizing downtime caused by maintenance delays, parts availability issues, and work-in-process backlogs
- Contribute to the planned repair and reuse of parts and other CoSD projects as directed
- Participate in failure investigations and root cause analyses as assigned, providing field-level insight to prevent recurrence
- Support initiatives that improve the overall efficiency and productivity of the Mechanic team
- QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Required
- High school diploma or GED; technical or vocational training in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment, or a related field preferred
- Demonstrated hands-on experience maintaining and repairing industrial OEM mechanical equipment, trucks, or operational units
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders
- Working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and reliability-centered maintenance principles
- Experience with or ability to quickly learn computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate recordkeeping
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, field-based environment
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Preferred
- Prior experience in the oil and gas, energy, or industrial services sector
- Experience participating in continuous improvement programs (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver equipment and parts weighing up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying outdoor weather conditions
- Must be able to stand, kneel, crouch, and perform physical labor for extended periods
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times on site
