Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Control Room Operator to join our team. In this position, you will serve as the eyes and hands of our global renewable energy portfolio — overseeing the live performance of solar generation and battery storage assets spread across multiple countries and grid jurisdictions.
You will work within a structured, compliance-driven environment where precision, calm under pressure, and cross-functional communication are essential. This is a hands-on technical role with real impact on grid reliability and clean energy delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Real-Time Operations
- Use SCADA and energy management systems to track and control solar PV and BESS assets in real time across global sites.
- Monitor field instruments — including breakers, inverters, trackers, and meters — to verify that output and system health are within defined parameters.
- Issue and receive switching orders and dispatch commands in alignment with grid operator requirements.
- Apply working knowledge of regional market rules when operating in jurisdictions such as CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, and various European transmission systems.
Incident & Event Handling
- Detect and respond to curtailments, equipment derates, and unplanned outages with urgency and sound judgment.
- Serve as a coordination hub between field crews, site managers, and grid operators during abnormal conditions.
- Contribute to post-event investigations by documenting observations and supporting root cause findings.
Compliance & Security
- Operate in accordance with applicable NERC Reliability Standards for North American assets, including CIP, COM, TOP, PER, and PRC requirements.
- Apply equivalent international standards for assets outside North America, in line with local market operator expectations.
- Handle Critical Cyber Assets with care and observe all physical and digital security protocols.
- Participate in scheduled compliance training, operational drills, and evidence preparation for regulatory audits.
Records, Reporting & Process Improvement
- Log events, operational data, and system anomalies accurately within the CMMS and other tracking systems.
- Prepare and deliver required reports to market operators, scheduling coordinators, and internal stakeholders on schedule.
- Flag process gaps and quality deviations, and help develop practical corrective actions in line with ISO 9001 principles.
- Support the development of standardized procedures that work across regions while honoring local compliance requirements
Must-Haves
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Prior experience in an operational, technical service, or control environment.
- Ability to process multiple data streams simultaneously and make sound decisions when conditions change quickly.
- Clear, professional communication skills — both written and verbal — with comfort working across cultures and time zones.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with PV generation or battery energy storage systems.
- Familiarity with NERC standards, CIP compliance, or ISO 9001 quality frameworks.
- Previous use of SCADA, EMS, or computerized maintenance management platforms.
