Job Description
The Materials Handler is responsible for moving materials from machines at workstations as part of the production process. This role plays a key part in maintaining the efficiency and flow of manufacturing operations by ensuring that materials, parts, and components are properly issued, transferred, and managed in support of production goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Move materials from machines at workstations as part of the production process.
- Issue and transfer parts for production in a timely and accurate manner.
- Assist the Production Planner and assembly stores whenever required.
- Use the guiding principles and tools of the Manufacturing System to drive continuous improvement, wherever applicable.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
- Accurately record material movements, part quantities, and transfers using applicable tracking systems.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding material shortages or discrepancies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or production environment a plus.
- Ability to operate manual and powered material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack, forklift preferred).
- Basic math and reading skills required; ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced production environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and reaching.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing or warehouse setting, including exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
