Job Description
Seeking a seasoned Construction Manager to lead the onsite execution of our utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. As the primary onsite representative for our project management and engineering teams, you will bridge the gap between design and reality, ensuring our projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest technical standards.
This is a high-impact role requiring a mix of technical EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) expertise and the interpersonal finesse needed to navigate complex stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Site Leadership: Lead daily "Plan of the Day" meetings and oversee all onsite contractors and subcontractors to ensure strict adherence to quality, safety, and project specifications.
Operational Excellence: Enforce rigorous Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies. You are the final line of defense for site safety.
Quality & Compliance: Review installation methods and work against approved drawings, manuals, and local codes. Manage the RFI (Request for Information) and NCR (Non-Conformance Report) processes to resolve technical hurdles in real-time.
Schedule & Performance: Track construction progress against daily rates and project milestones. Proactively develop recovery plans when targets are at risk.
Commercial Oversight: Evaluate subcontractor change order requests and coordinate schedule updates, invoices, and technical submittals.
Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the central point of contact between the Project Owner, Owner’s Engineer, EPC partners, and local authorities.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Credentials: Registered Building Practitioner with a valid Driver’s License and insurance.
Industry Experience: 5+ years in the construction/EPC industry, specifically within utility-scale renewable energy (BESS, Solar, or Wind).
Technical Proficiency: Mastery of MS 365, with advanced skills in MS Project for schedule tracking.
Soft Skills: Proven negotiation and conflict resolution skills; ability to maintain a professional demeanor under the high-pressure environment of a construction site.
Risk Management: Strong ability to identify, assess, and mitigate onsite risks before they impact the timeline.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Location: This is an on-site role located at project construction sites.
Physicality: Must be comfortable navigating active construction zones, which involves standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
Flexibility: Ability to work non-standard hours (evenings/weekends) and travel as required to meet project commissioning deadlines.
