National Accounts Manager – Plastics Packaging (Remote; U.S.)
Pay Rate will depend on experience - Salary plus commission
Company Overview
We represent a dynamic leader in the high-volume, premium plastics packaging space—specializing in stock and custom plastic bottles, closures, printing/labeling, and sustainable packaging solutions (think clients like premium beverage, personal care, wellness brands). The company is growth-oriented, agile, and looking to expand its national footprint through new strategic accounts.
Position Summary
As the National Accounts Manager, you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and closing new national-level business opportunities within the plastics packaging market (focused on bottles/closures). You’ll work remotely from anywhere in the U.S., reporting directly to senior leadership. Regular travel to meet prospects, attend industry trade shows, and visit client sites will be required. This is a base + commission role, offering significant upside for high performers.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and develop new national accounts (C-level, VP, Director level) in target industries such as beverage, food & beverage, personal care, wellness, nutraceuticals, and more.
Build and maintain a sales pipeline of qualified opportunities — conduct prospecting, discovery, presentations, proposals, and negotiations.
Collaborate closely with internal teams (product development, operations, logistics, marketing) to tailor packaging solutions (stock bottles, custom molds, closures, printing, labeling) to prospective clients.
Serve as the primary commercial interface for assigned accounts: manage quotes, contract discussions, performance metrics, and account development plans.
Travel nationally (~25-50%) to attend industry trade shows, meet clients, conduct site visits, and present solutions.
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, new packaging technologies and sustainability initiatives. Bring insights and product-solution ideas back to the organization.
Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets (new account revenue, margin, pipeline velocity). Report regularly on progress, forecast, and account status to leadership.
Represent the company in a professional manner, aligning with its brand values, quality standards and customer-centric approach.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of B2B sales experience in the plastics packaging industry (preferably bottles/closures) or in a closely related packaging/industrial materials field.
Proven track record of successfully opening and growing national accounts (not just regional).
Strong knowledge of packaging supply-chains, manufacturing processes (injection, blow molding, closures, printing/labeling), and the decision-maker ecosystem in packaging.
Comfortable working fully remote: self-motivated, disciplined, strong time-management and virtual/face-to-face client-relationship skills.
Willingness and ability to travel nationally (~25-50% as needed).
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills (verbal and written).
Strategic mindset: ability to think long-term and build account development plans.
Familiarity with CRM systems, sales forecasting, and pipeline management.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Preferred/Bonus Qualifications
Existing network of contacts in target industries (beverage brands, personal care, nutraceuticals) and familiarity with their packaging sourcing processes.
Expertise in sustainability packaging (PCR plastics, eco-friendly closures) or custom mold development experience.
Experience working with manufacturing operations to transition concept → prototype → production.
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive base salary plus an uncapped commission structure tied to new account revenue and margin.
Fully remote, work-from-anywhere in the U.S.
Travel expense coverage.
Health & welfare benefits (if applicable) + 401(k) or retirement plan (if applicable).
Company-provided technology (laptop, phone) and support.
Career advancement opportunity into senior sales leadership or global accounts.
