Our client is technology-focused manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Firmware Engineer to join its product development team. The primary focus of this role is the creation and enhancement of software for embedded systems.
The position encompasses the full software development lifecycle, including defining requirements, designing architecture, writing and testing code, and producing comprehensive documentation. The ideal candidate will be a skilled C or C++ programmer with a robust understanding of microcontroller architecture and experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
Design, develop, code, test, and debug system-level software.
Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources.
Collaborate on hardware design reviews to ensure software compatibility and provide technical contributions.
Evaluate and integrate third-party and open-source software components.
Develop software validation strategies and perform testing to guarantee system performance meets specifications.
Troubleshoot, isolate, and resolve firmware-related issues in embedded hardware.
Create and maintain clear, detailed software documentation for ongoing support and development.
Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to meet project deadlines.
Adhere to internal and industry-best coding standards and design principles.
Stay current with emerging technologies and trends within the firmware development field.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
10+ years of professional experience in a Firmware Engineer, Software Developer, or a similar embedded systems role.
Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting on embedded targets, particularly wireless System-on-Chip (SoC) or System-in-Package (SiP) platforms (e.g., WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, LoRaWAN).
Proficient in C or C++ programming for embedded systems.
Solid understanding of various microcontroller and microprocessor architectures (e.g., ARM Cortex, Atmel AVR).
Familiarity with standard software development tools, including version control, defect tracking, and peer review systems.
Knowledge of firmware testing methodologies and associated tools.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Experience with common wireless MCU/SoC platforms from major semiconductor manufacturers.
Professional experience developing firmware for IoT devices, including communication with cloud platforms.
In-depth knowledge of and practical experience with the MQTT protocol.
