We are seeking a highly skilled and disciplined Network Engineer to join our team, managing and maintaining a converged Gigabit Ethernet network infrastructure in support of 66 ABG/SC and their customers under Core Services. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with expertise in network configuration, troubleshooting, and DoD security compliance.
Network Operations & Management:
Manage and maintain the complex, converged network infrastructure, including Cisco/Juniper routers and switches.
Perform installation, configuration, and advanced troubleshooting of network hardware, including TACLANEs and UPS systems, with minimal supervision.
Provide operational support and execute daily tasks for key network components such as routers, switches, IP address management (IPAM), and network management tools (e.g., Orion NPM/NCM, Cisco ISE).
Projects & Upgrades:
Work on ongoing network upgrade projects, including the design and integration of new networks into the existing architecture using the latest networking technologies.
Interface with third-party vendors for warranty claims, hardware/software upgrades, and technology updates.
Security & Compliance:
Assist in securing network systems to meet all applicable DoD, AF, and DISA compliance requirements.
Participate in system maintenance, optimization, and performance activities for classified, unclassified, and other enterprise networks.
Maintain detailed record keeping and ensure all networks comply with locally established military processes and external DoD directives.
Troubleshooting & Support:
Diagnose and resolve complex data troubles and handle customer support cases through Tier 3 contracted support, ensuring proper and timely resolutions.
Open and route trouble tickets, interfacing with subject matter experts as needed.
Provide 24/7 emergency operational support on an as-needed basis, responding to all operational needs according to contract parameters.
Documentation:
Update and maintain network topology maps (classified and unclassified) and operational procedures using Visio.
Network Hardware: Extensive hands-on experience in the configuration and installation of the Cisco/Juniper product line of routers and switches.
Network Protocols: Strong working knowledge and excellent troubleshooting skills for Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols in a VoIP environment.
Network Services: Strong working knowledge of IP Address Management/DHCP/DNS/Radius/Syslog.
Security & Monitoring: Experience with TACLANEs (completion of TACLANE training class is required), Firewalls/Proxies, and network monitoring tools like Orion NPM/NCM, Cisco ISE, and Wireshark.
Physical Infrastructure: Knowledge of cabling standards (Fiber/CAT5E) and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
Education: Associate degree in IT, Mathematics, or Computer Science and 3+ years of experience in a Network role. An additional two years of relevant experience may substitute for the degree.
Clearance: Must possess an active Secret Level DoD Security Clearance.
Certification: Current DoD 8570 Certification, specifically CompTIA Security +.
Troubleshooting: Expert-level network debugging and troubleshooting skills.
Communication: Strong written, organizational, and verbal communication skills.
Problem-Solving: Critical thinking skills for problem identification and resolution; ability to research technical issues and develop solutions with strong attention to detail.
Customer Service: Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment while being self-motivated.
Availability & Physical: Flexibility with hours, including potential evening/weekend work, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Working knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019.
