Engineering Manager

Growing Crane Manufacturer in the Dallas, Texas area is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its team!  The Engineering Manager will report directly to the President and CEO and will manage 2 Engineers and 2 drafts people. 
 

Job Description: 
  • Working structural/mechanical design and production engineer.   
  • Department head who directs structural/mechanical/electrical engineers & detailers. 
  • Engineering Department is responsible for all aspects required to design and produce approval/ fabrication /installation drawings with bills of materials. 
  • Extremely high throughput with multiple projects occurring simultaneously.   
  • Reviews production schedule and assigns work to employees to insure approvals are returned, materials are requisitioned and production drawings ready in time to meet delivery commitments. 
  • Follows production through shop and provide technical assistance to other departments as necessary.  Makes technical disposition on QC tagged Non-conformities. 
  • Provide engineering support to company field service division on modernization projects.  Occasional trips to field for site measurements, layouts, meetings with customers and crane inspection/evaluation.
 
Job Requirements:
  • 4 year Structural or Mechanical Engineering Degree, PE highly desired. 
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with overhead cranes / hoists and related equipment. 
  • Multitasker who can direct engineering workforce and also work alongside them to handle fast paced order throughput. 
  • Familiarity with CMAA Specifications and able to perform design calculations in accordance with the structural and mechanical portions of the specifications.
  • Working knowledge and use of AISC Manual of Steel Construction, Allowable Stress Design. 
  • Able to draw (2D) in Auto Cad, perform calculations using Excel and Math Cad, along with full use of MS Office products.    
  • Enough familiarity with crane electrical control systems to oversee and interface with degreed electrical engineer.   
  • Effective communicator who can prepare and make strong technical presentations to instill confidence on product expertise. 
  • Ability to go up onto cranes in industrial environments following safe fall protection practices. 
 
Location:        Dallas, TX area, 5% +/- Travel.
