Location: Durham, NC Full-Time | Hybrid
We're seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to oversee and process payroll for assigned pay groups in a multi-state, fast-paced environment. You’ll ensure payroll accuracy, compliance with regulations, and serve as a key backup across multiple payrolls.
Full-cycle payroll administration (weekly, semi-monthly, and Expat payrolls)
Handle payroll funding, adjustments, garnishments, manual checks, and retroactive calculations
Manage PTO and Executive Deferred Compensation payroll inputs
Support LOA processing in collaboration with HR and benefits teams
Respond to employee inquiries on payroll, taxes, deductions, and benefits
Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit readiness, and payroll compliance
Assist with year-end processing, W-2 reviews, and payroll system updates/testing
Maintain and analyze payroll audit reports to identify and resolve discrepancies
High School Diploma (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred)
5+ years of full-cycle payroll experience (multi-state strongly preferred)
2+ years with UKG Pro (UltiPro) software preferred
Strong understanding of payroll compliance, benefits, and audit procedures
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and Office suite
