Job Description

�� Payroll Specialist 

�� Location: Durham, NC �� Full-Time | Hybrid

We're seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to oversee and process payroll for assigned pay groups in a multi-state, fast-paced environment. You’ll ensure payroll accuracy, compliance with regulations, and serve as a key backup across multiple payrolls. 


�� Key Responsibilities

  • Full-cycle payroll administration (weekly, semi-monthly, and Expat payrolls)

  • Handle payroll funding, adjustments, garnishments, manual checks, and retroactive calculations

  • Manage PTO and Executive Deferred Compensation payroll inputs

  • Support LOA processing in collaboration with HR and benefits teams

  • Respond to employee inquiries on payroll, taxes, deductions, and benefits

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, audit readiness, and payroll compliance

  • Assist with year-end processing, W-2 reviews, and payroll system updates/testing

  • Maintain and analyze payroll audit reports to identify and resolve discrepancies


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred)

  • 5+ years of full-cycle payroll experience (multi-state strongly preferred)

  • 2+ years with UKG Pro (UltiPro) software preferred

  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance, benefits, and audit procedures

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and Office suite
