Service Technician Job Description

• Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on heavy construction equipment, vehicles, and related equipment.
• Identify repair needs and recommend replacement parts as needed.
• Repair and replace damaged or worn components.
• Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Read and understand operating manuals, electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Complete work orders, warranty documentation, service reports, and time records accurately.
• Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and a clean, organized work area.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain positive customer relationships.
• Stay current on equipment, technology, and repair procedures.
• Participate in required training and development.
• Assist with parts deliveries, errands, and other service department duties as needed.
• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Technical school certificate or 3+ years of related experience/training preferred.
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment repair methods, tools, and techniques.
• Ability to diagnose complex problems and develop effective solutions.
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic schematics.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer and Microsoft Office skills.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work in confined areas.
• Ability to use hand and power tools, including vibrating tools, for extended periods.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
