Manufacturing Buyer / Purchasing Specialist

North Sioux City, SD

Pay: Up to $32.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–3:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchasing and procurement needs across the manufacturing facility
• Purchase parts, materials, supplies, equipment, and services for Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and other departments
• Create, review, and manage purchase orders
• Work directly with vendors on pricing, availability, lead times, and order status
• Review purchase orders for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
• Receive purchased items against POs within the ERP system
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, spreadsheets, and system data
• Track orders and communicate potential shortages or delays that could impact production
• Coordinate purchasing requirements with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Accounting, and Plant Management
• Support Engineering projects by purchasing materials, equipment, and other project-related items
• Assist with capital expenditure purchasing and documentation
• Support spare-parts and MRO purchasing requirements
• Assist with maintenance scheduling and work-order coordination as needed
• Maintain accurate vendor, purchasing, and procurement documentation
• Participate in forecasting and cross-functional planning meetings
• Serve as a key ERP/NetSuite resource for purchasing activities within the department
• Respond to occasional urgent purchasing needs outside normal business hours

Qualifications

• Previous purchasing, procurement, buyer, or materials experience in a manufacturing, production, or operations environment
• Strong experience creating and managing purchase orders
• Experience working directly with suppliers and vendors
• Strong ERP/MRP system experience
• NetSuite experience is highly preferred
• Strong Microsoft Excel and general computer skills
• Excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities
• Comfortable managing multiple purchase requests and priorities simultaneously
• Strong math and analytical skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and multiple internal departments
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

Preferred Experience

• 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment
• Food or beverage manufacturing experience
• Production or operations purchasing experience
• NetSuite experience
• MRO or spare-parts purchasing experience
• Experience purchasing for Engineering or capital projects
• Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment
• CMMS experience
