Field Service Engineer (Electrical Power Systems)

Location: Middletown, CT home location with travel in the region (15-20 overnight days a year on average)
Pay: $90,000 - $115,000 a year
Schedule: Typically 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (flex based on customer needs)

Overview:
We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to support testing, maintenance, and commissioning of electrical power distribution systems. This is a hands-on role combining electrical engineering knowledge with field service work. The ideal candidate has strong electrical troubleshooting skills, enjoys working independently, and is comfortable working directly with customers in industrial environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform on-site testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical power systems
• Conduct protective relay testing and system diagnostics
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and DC elementary drawings
• Support equipment such as transformers, switchgear, and control panels
• Assist with engineering calculations, system analysis, and project execution
• Coordinate work at customer sites and ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues during outages and shutdowns
• Maintain accurate documentation and reports for all field work performed
• Communicate effectively with customers, internal teams, and leadership
• Follow all electrical safety standards including NFPA 70E

Qualifications:

• Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong electrical background with hands-on troubleshooting experience
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Experience with power distribution systems preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform field work
• Field service or industrial maintenance experience is a plus
• NETA certification (Level II or higher) is a strong plus
• Experience with transformers, relays, and switchgear preferred
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Must be a U.S. citizen (required for site access)
