Job Description

Production Manager - Paint Department

Schedule: Monday–Friday (9–10 hour days)
Compensation: $85,000 – $90,000 

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and direct continuous product painting and prefinish operations

• Lead production supervisors and hourly teams across finishing operations

• Ensure all safety policies, procedures, and compliance standards are met

• Drive product quality to meet internal and customer specifications

• Control labor, material, waste, and production costs vs. budget

• Monitor and improve KPIs including waste, speed, delay, and efficiency

• Ensure equipment and sheet machines meet production targets

• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives

• Implement Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies

• Oversee perpetual inventory and raw material usage

• Develop workforce skillsets and succession plans

• Build short- and long-term operational efficiency strategies

• Partner cross-functionally with maintenance, quality, and plant leadership

Team & Leadership Scope

• 12 Direct Reports (Supervisors & Hourly Staff)

• Includes maintenance support personnel

• Reports to Plant Manager

• Acts as plant leader when Plant Manager is absent

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years manufacturing leadership experience

• 8–10+ years in prefinish, paint, coatings, or finishing operations

• Experience with paint mixing, wood stain, or coating systems required

• Fiber cement or building materials experience preferred

• Strong Lean Manufacturing & 5S background

• Experience managing KPIs, budgets, and cost controls

• Root cause analysis and problem-solving expertise

• Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills

• Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering preferred) OR equivalent experience
