Operations Manager - Benton Harbor, MI
- Location: Benton Harbor, MI
- Shift: Day/afternoon shift (weekend/holiday flexibility as needed)
- Pay: $90K-$115K
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on supervision and training for production personnel.
- Direct dispatch operations to ensure accurate and timely scheduling of customer shipments.
- Manage receiving activities to ensure proper count and inspection of merchandise based on purchase orders.
- Oversee product distribution and stock rotation to designated warehouse locations.
- Coordinate interfacility product transfers to support customer deliveries.
- Conduct follow-up deliveries when necessary to resolve shortages or order discrepancies.
- Collaborate with purchasing to ensure adequate inventory levels and prompt fulfillment of customer orders.
- Prepare the warehouse and team for physical inventory counts.
- Ensure warehouse operations meet all safety, health, and regulatory compliance requirements (Federal, State, and local).
- Participate in developing and implementing profit planning and performance control programs.
- Conduct and lead staff meetings, performance reviews, and communication updates.
- Enforce company policies and procedures across all warehouse and production functions.
- Maintain effective communication and cooperation with other departments.
- Complete required reports and documentation accurately and on time.
- Perform special projects and cost studies (e.g., delivery or labor efficiency analysis).
- Control labor costs and minimize product shrinkage.
- Develop and manage staffing schedules to support operational needs.
- Ensure maintenance and safety of all warehouse equipment and vehicles (e.g., forklifts).
- Oversee refrigeration systems and maintain proper temperature control for all stored products.
- Lead the selection, training, development, and motivation of warehouse employees to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
- 3-5+ years of operations or warehouse management experience.
- Background in fresh produce, food manufacturing, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to influence, delegate, and motivate teams.
- Competent in conflict management, negotiation, organization, and decision-making.
- Working knowledge of Food Safety, HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Ability to interpret and execute complex instructions independently and solve problems effectively.
- Willingness to complete relevant training and certifications as required.
