Position Summary

Our team is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial, industrial, and high-voltage electrical projects. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical electrical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, engineers, and clients to develop winning proposals.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple bid opportunities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, and bid documents.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for electrical systems including:
    • Power distribution
    • Lighting systems
    • Fire alarm systems
    • Low-voltage systems
    • Medium- and high-voltage installations
    • Substation and utility infrastructure projects
  • Prepare complete project estimates including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
  • Develop value engineering alternatives and cost-saving recommendations.
  • Maintain current pricing databases and estimating tools.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate bid submissions and proposal preparation.
  • Work closely with Project Managers and field operations teams during project handoff.
  • Assist with change order pricing and budget analysis as needed.
  • Stay informed on current market conditions, labor trends, and material costs.
  • Ensure estimates comply with company standards, project specifications, and applicable electrical codes.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of electrical estimating experience in commercial, industrial, or utility construction.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction practices, and estimating principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with estimating software such as: Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, Bluebeam, TurboBid
