Senior Superintendent – Heavy (Water/Wastewater)
Overview
Lead field execution for water/wastewater and heavy civil construction projects. Responsible for schedule, cost, safety, staffing, and on-site operations.
Responsibilities
- Manage all field construction activities and sequencing
- Direct layout, field engineering, and quality control
- Supervise subcontractors and field crews
- Plan and adjust labor staffing; coordinate union labor
- Manage field payroll and approve vendor/supplier invoices
- Track and execute change orders (including T&M work)
- Develop and maintain look-ahead schedules
- Coordinate with owner, engineers, and inspectors
- Monitor project schedule and cost performance
- Identify and resolve field issues and constructability conflicts
- Review submittals and issue RFIs
- Execute value engineering and cost control measures
- Enforce site safety compliance and procedures
Requirements
- Experience delivering water or wastewater treatment plant projects
- Knowledge of heavy civil and industrial construction methods
- Field engineering and layout experience
- Subcontractor and labor management experience
- Working knowledge of union labor agreements
- Experience managing project schedules and cost tracking
- Ability to serve as competent person (excavation, confined space, scaffolding)
Education & Experience
- 7+ years construction field leadership experience
- Degree or equivalent technical training in construction or related field
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam
- Experience with project management and scheduling software
- OSHA 30 certification (required)
- CPR/First Aid certification (required)
- Construction Supervisor License (required)
Working Conditions
Active construction site environment (indoor/outdoor), including ladders, stairs, and required PPE.
Compensation
Salary Range: $100,000 – $160,000 annually
Final compensation based on experience, project scope, and internal equity.
