Civil Engineer 

Location: Northeast Connecticut 
Compensation: Competitive base salary + bonus + full benefits
Employment Type: Full-time


About the Opportunity

We are partnered with a well-established heavy civil and environmental contractor specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pipelines, and complex municipal construction.

Due to continued growth and a strong project backlog, they are seeking a Project/Civil Engineer to support project management teams on large-scale, technically complex infrastructure projects.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers and Senior Engineers with daily project execution and coordination
  • Manage and review shop drawings and submittals, ensuring alignment with contract documents and construction schedules
  • Track and maintain RFIs, submittals, and project logs
  • Assist in the development and updates of CPM project schedules
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to ensure seamless execution
  • Participate in procurement and buyout activities, including pricing and expediting materials
  • Assist with change orders, cost tracking, and project documentation
  • Attend jobsite meetings and provide updates on project progress and technical issues
  • Conduct site visits and support field teams in resolving coordination and constructability issues

Qualifications

  • 1–5+ years of experience in:
    • Heavy civil construction
    • Water/wastewater or municipal infrastructure projects (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Understanding of:
    • Construction documents, specifications, and submittal processes
    • CPM scheduling (Primavera, MS Project, or similar)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to:
    • Underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
    • Concrete structures and earthwork
    • Public works or municipal construction
  • Internship or early career experience on infrastructure or environmental projects
