Technical Support Specialist – Access Control Systems

Overview
Our client is a well-established manufacturer and solutions provider in the access control and automated systems space. They are seeking a Technical Support Specialist to provide front-line technical assistance to distributors, dealers, and end users. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on technical aptitude who enjoys troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems and supporting customers by phone and in person.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to distributors, dealers, and end users for access control and automated gate systems
- Handle inbound phone calls to diagnose and resolve system issues
- Troubleshoot equipment involving electrical, electronic, and mechanical components
- Support dealers with product installation questions and guidance
- Collaborate with internal departments, including Engineering, to research and resolve field-reported issues
- Accurately document all support interactions using an internal ticketing system
- Research illustrated parts breakdowns and recommend appropriate replacement components
- Assist walk-in customers with technical questions and product issues as needed
Experience & Skills
- Experience with access control systems, card access, vehicular gate systems, or similar technologies is a plus (training provided)
- Prior technical support experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Working knowledge of high- and low-voltage electronics
- Basic troubleshooting skills for computer hardware, converters, communication ports, and related components
- Familiarity with Windows-based software applications
- Strong phone presence with clear, professional communication skills
- Team-oriented with the ability to interact effectively across departments
- Hands-on experience with basic electrical, electronic, or mechanical systems
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- General knowledge of electricity and electronics preferred
