Library Assistant (4-Month Contract)


Location: Onsite (Yorkville Area - Bloor St) – Full Time (Monday to Friday)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: $21/hour
Contract Length: 4 months


About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Library Assistant to support daily operations and provide excellent service to library users. This full-time, onsite role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in an organized, customer-focused environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patrons with locating materials, general inquiries, and account questions
  • Check materials in and out using the library’s system
  • Shelve, organize, and maintain library materials
  • Support interlibrary loan processes and material handling
  • Prepare displays, signage, and materials for library programs
  • Perform data entry, filing, and other administrative tasks
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming library environment
  • Provide general support to library staff as required

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a library, administrative, or customer-service role is an asset
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Comfortable using computers, databases, and library systems (training provided)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift and move books or boxes as required

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, onsite
  • 37.5 hours per week
