Staffworks is seeking a Bilingual Regulatory Investigator for our regulatory client to start ASAP. This is an 6-month contract.

Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Investigations, the incumbent is responsible for investigating complaints and reports related to issues such as professional misconduct, competence, or capacity concerns, in accordance with legislated requirements and internal policies.
Responsibilities- Receive and review initial complaints and information to gain a comprehensive understanding of the issue to be investigated.
- Develop a comprehensive plan to investigate the complaint or report, including identifying issues, documents to be collected, and key witnesses to be interviewed.
- Conduct investigations into complaints or reports by determining appropriate investigative techniques.
- Identify, obtain and analyze relevant information and documentation, applying understanding of legal and regulatory issues.
- Identify discrepancies and gaps in information.
- Conduct telephone interviews with key witnesses and prepare summaries of the interviews.
- Document all verbal communication related to the investigation.
- Conduct inquiries to locate witnesses and additional information required to support the investigation (including database searches, phone inquiries, and internet searches).
- Prepare documentation required to obtain information and support investigation findings
- such as requests for records, summaries of information received, or undertakings.
- Organize and compile investigation records, ensuring documents are properly disclosed and sensitive information is redacted.
- Provide testimony regarding investigative content or process at disciplinary hearings when required.
- Remain current with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, and investigative best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience and Skills- Completion of a two- or three-year college program (legal studies or similar).
- One to three years of experience in a regulatory or investigations-focused environment.
- Fluent in English and French is required
- Understanding of professional regulation and the role of a regulatory college, intake experience or similar.
- Knowledge of legal and administrative law principles such as procedural fairness, confidentiality, privacy, human rights, and evidence law.
- Strong judgment and analytical skills to assess risks, identify key issues, and evaluate information.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an environment with competing priorities.
- Strong written communication skills to prepare accurate and detailed investigative documentation.
- Effective listening and verbal communication skills to interact with various stakeholders, including complainants, witnesses, and law enforcement.
- Resilience, tact, and diplomacy when communicating with individuals who may be frustrated or distressed, while remaining professional and neutral.
- Sound professional judgment to ensure appropriate disclosure of information and maintain impartiality.
- Strong time management and attention to detail to ensure investigation files are accurate and completed within required timelines.
