Our client is seeking a mid-level to senior React Developer to support a staff augmentation engagement alongside their existing development team. In this role, you will contribute to the evolution and stability of a React-based web application that serves as a lighter-weight companion to a mission-critical iOS mobile app used by healthcare professionals.
This role requires a developer who can quickly understand an established codebase, contribute high-quality solutions, and collaborate closely with client developers. The ideal candidate brings strong front-end expertise, sound engineering judgment, and a quality-first mindset suited for software supporting high-impact, real-world workflows.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain features for a React-based web application that complements a core iOS mobile app
Collaborate closely with two client developers to deliver enhancements, bug fixes, and incremental improvements
Work effectively within an existing architecture, applying best practices without overengineering
Build and maintain reusable, well-structured React components and front-end utilities
Translate UI/UX designs into polished, responsive, and accessible user interfaces
Help ensure the application meets reliability, performance, and usability expectations for mission-critical use
Troubleshoot complex front-end issues and provide thoughtful, maintainable solutions
Participate actively in code reviews, offering constructive feedback and guidance
Communicate progress, tradeoffs, and technical considerations clearly and proactively
Contribute to continuous improvement of front-end standards, patterns, and practices
Required Qualifications
Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6+) with several years of hands-on experience
Professional experience building and maintaining production applications with React
Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive web design principles
Experience with common React patterns and tooling (state management, routing, data fetching)
Experience integrating with RESTful APIs
Strong working knowledge of Git and collaborative development workflows
Proven ability to ramp up quickly in an existing codebase and deliver value independently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting or augmenting established development teams
Experience working on mission-critical, high-reliability, or regulated applications
Familiarity with TypeScript and typed front-end development
Exposure to modern front-end build tools and CI/CD pipelines
Experience with front-end testing strategies and frameworks
Prior work in Agile or iterative delivery environments
Experience building web applications that complement native mobile apps
