Our client is seeking a Senior iOS Engineer to join a highly specialized product team responsible for a mission-critical iOS application used daily by healthcare professionals. This is a mature application (approximately 10 years old) with a sophisticated and highly discerning user base that has zero tolerance for defects or instability.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with two seasoned iOS engineers and play a pivotal part in accelerating modernization initiatives, increasing development velocity, and upholding an exceptionally high standard of quality. This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who thrives in complex codebases and can deliver immediate, meaningful impact.
This is a remote role for a 6+ month contract.
What You’ll Do
Contribute to the ongoing modernization of a large-scale, production iOS application
Build new features using SwiftUI while maintaining and enhancing legacy UIKit components
Collaborate with design and product partners using Figma and Linear
Own frontend development end-to-end, from requirements through App Store release
Write, test, and maintain high-quality code with 90%+ coverage for all new development
Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and test planning
Ensure smooth release cycles and proactively mitigate potential Apple App Store review issues
Work within an established CI/CD pipeline leveraging Fastlane and Azure DevOps
Technical Environment
Platform: Native iOS (Apple frameworks only)
Language: Swift (approximately 99%)
UI: SwiftUI (new development), UIKit (legacy)
Architecture: MVVM (new development)
Data Modeling: Core Data
Testing: Current coverage at 91%; all new code must meet or exceed 90%
CI/CD: Fastlane with Azure Pipelines
Collaboration Tools: Linear (requirements and ticketing), Figma (design)
Required Qualifications
Senior-level experience developing production, customer-facing iOS applications
Deep expertise in Swift, Xcode, and Apple iOS frameworks
Strong hands-on experience with SwiftUI and maintaining UIKit-based codebases
Proven success working within large, complex applications with nuanced edge cases
Solid understanding of MVVM architecture principles
Experience writing robust unit and integration tests
Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
Comfort working with a demanding user base where quality is non-negotiable
Bonus / Nice to Have
Experience with audio processing on iOS
Familiarity with WebSockets for real-time data or feedback
Prior experience navigating or resolving Apple App Store review challenges
