Overview:

Are you a Junior Accountant with experience working on a city or government related financial project? Come join a lean team on a long term contract for the City of Manassas! 
The ideal candidate will be located in the Southeast (although you can work fully remote) and will have 1-3 years of hands on Accounting experience.

• Support the AP Specialist with reviewing invoices and supporting documentation for proper authorization
• Pays invoices and provide refunds and employee reimbursements through the City’s financial system
• Perform assigned account analysis and reconciliations to support the AP Team
• Ensure compliance with all established standards, policies, and procedures as well as the City’s codes and ordinances and Prompt Payment Ac
• Supports AP with the City’s purchase card program processing, postage, departmental expenditures, vendor payment files, and other tasks as assigned
• Support Payroll Specialist and processes accurate payments for benefit vendors by due dates
• Process accounts and incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and procedures
• Serve as liaison for financial questions; investigates and coordinates resolution; provides financial services to other departments as requested
• Assist with information requests to City departments, auditors, and outside agencies
• Assist with ensuring grant compliance with financial-related statues, rules, and agreements 

Requirements:

• 1-3 years of experience as an Accountant performing a wide variety of duties including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, analysis, and reconciliation
• Hands on experience working on a government or city accounting project
• Qualified candidates must be a US citizen for contract purposes
• CPA preferred!
• Superior customer service and collaboration skills required!
