Lead Enterprise Application Architect / Developer
About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on Lead Enterprise Application Architect / Developer to lead the modernization of a mission-critical enterprise application platform supporting operational workflows, enterprise data, and business operations.
This is a unique opportunity to build a next-generation enterprise platform from the ground up rather than maintaining legacy applications. Working alongside business stakeholders, product leaders, data engineers, infrastructure teams, and offshore development resources, you will help design a modern cloud-native application ecosystem built on scalable APIs, microservices, governed data access, and modern engineering practices.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, influencing architecture, mentoring engineers, and building enterprise platforms that will serve as the foundation for future AI-enabled capabilities.

What You'll Be Building
The platform serves as a centralized enterprise application supporting:

Rather than performing a traditional "lift-and-shift," you'll help redesign the platform using modern architecture patterns, cloud-native services, and reusable components while maintaining long-term scalability and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture & Modernization
• Lead the architecture and modernization of a large-scale enterprise application platform.
• Design a cloud-native, API-first architecture using modern engineering principles.
• Build scalable microservices, reusable APIs, and integration services.
• Create architecture standards that promote security, scalability, maintainability, and operational excellence.
• Present technical designs and architecture recommendations through Architecture Review Boards and technical governance processes.

Technical Leadership
• Serve as the technical leader for application modernization initiatives.
• Guide engineering teams through architecture decisions, solution design, code reviews, testing, deployment, and production readiness.
• Mentor developers and promote engineering best practices.
• Balance modernization goals with operational stability and delivery timelines.

Enterprise Data Integration
• Design applications that leverage governed enterprise data platforms.
• Partner with Data Engineering teams to build scalable application integration patterns.
• Eliminate legacy data dependencies through modern API and service-oriented architecture.
• Support semantic data models and reusable enterprise services.

Offshore Development Leadership
• Provide day-to-day technical leadership for an offshore development team.
• Define technical direction and development priorities.
• Review technical deliverables and ensure architectural consistency.
• Remove blockers and improve engineering productivity.
• Coordinate work between onshore and offshore teams while maintaining delivery quality.

AI-Ready Platform Design
• Design application architecture that supports future AI-enabled capabilities.
• Build reusable APIs and integration services capable of supporting intelligent workflows and automation.
• Collaborate with AI engineering teams to ensure the platform can evolve alongside emerging AI technologies.
• Experience with modern AI application concepts is highly desirable, although the primary focus of this role is enterprise platform modernization.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Product Management, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, QA, and business stakeholders.
• Translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Participate in architecture planning and technical governance.
• Drive alignment across multiple technical disciplines.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of enterprise software development experience.
• 3+ years serving as a Lead Developer, Solution Architect, Application Architect, or Technical Lead.
• Experience designing and developing enterprise-scale applications.
• Strong experience with:
o C#
o .NET / ASP.NET Core
o REST APIs
o SQL / T-SQL
o Entity Framework
o Modern web application frameworks
• Experience designing API-first and microservice architectures.
• Experience building cloud-native applications within Microsoft Azure.
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams, including offshore resources.
• Excellent communication and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience modernizing legacy enterprise applications.
• Experience building cloud-native enterprise platforms.
• Experience with Snowflake or modern cloud data platforms.
• Experience with semantic data models and enterprise data integration.
• Experience with Azure API Management, Azure Functions, Azure App Services, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, Azure Key Vault, and Azure Monitor.
• Exposure to AI-enabled applications, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI, Claude, Snowflake Cortex AI, LangGraph, LangChain, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector search, or agentic application development.
• Experience participating in Architecture Review Boards or enterprise architecture governance.
