Summary
We are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst who is equally strong in business requirements gathering (primary) and hands-on SQL / reporting (secondary). This role is business-facing, working closely with internal stakeholders to capture requirements, build ad hoc reports, support existing dashboards, and partner on enterprise reporting initiatives.
The analytics organization is transitioning over the next two years to a self-service BI model, with semantic layers and canonical dashboards. The ideal hire is an 80% BSA / 20% technical analyst who can operate in today's ticket-based environment while helping shape tomorrow’s self-service future.
Core Responsibilities
Primary (60%) — Business Requirements & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the front-facing analyst working directly with business owners to gather, refine, and document reporting requirements.
- Manage ticket life cycle from intake → dev → QA → UAT → release.
- Translate business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, and reporting deliverables.
- Collaborate with business partners across the organization (operations, compliance, HCA-driven reporting, membership, HRA reporting initiatives).
- Manage deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume reporting environment.
- Work effectively on a team of 10+, maintaining strong communication and collaboration.
Secondary (20%) — Technical & SQL Work
- Perform simple to moderate SQL pulls (e.g., membership, claims, procedure code lookups, joining membership → claims → procedure code tables).
- Export and shape ad hoc datasets (CSV/Excel) for business consumption.
- Understand data structures within the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and how datasets relate.
- Troubleshoot data variances and perform validation on existing datasets.
Complex SQL or engineering tasks are handled by developers. This role focuses on accurate, timely, moderate-complexity data pulls.
Tertiary (20%) — BI Development & Dashboard Support
- Support updates to existing Tableau dashboards and workbooks (75% of workload today).
- Build dashboards or components aligned to the new canonical dashboard strategy.
- Participate in the long-term transformation toward self-service BI (semantic layers, standardized metrics, governed dashboards).
- Provide business context during development and QA.

- 3–4+ years of healthcare experience
- Strong business requirements gathering & communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
