Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled HPC Linux System Administrator to join our client’s specialized team supporting R&D organizations across multiple industries. This role will focus on building, optimizing, and maintaining a High-Performance Computing cluster that will serve a global user base. The ideal candidate will be an experienced Linux Administrator who understands parallel computing environments, storage systems, and schedulers. This is a unique opportunity to work on a cutting-edge HPC infrastructure, ensuring it is efficiently set up, maintained, and optimized for long-term use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the administration, support, and optimization of a newly developed HPC cluster.
  • Manage system updates, OS upgrades, tuning, and optimization to ensure performance and scalability.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders and end-users, ensuring the system is being leveraged effectively.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to enable seamless integration of HPC with cloud and enterprise data systems.
  • Maintain and support parallel file systems, schedulers, and high-speed networks.
  • Work with integration partners to ensure successful hardware and software deployments.
  • Provide technical expertise in Linux system administration, compilers, kernel management, and user administration.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Strong Linux Administration experience in HPC environments or large-scale computing infrastructures.
  • Experience working with parallel computing, high-speed networking, and distributed storage systems.
  • Proficiency in compilers, kernel tuning, user administration, and home directory management.
  • Ability to work closely with scientists and researchers to support computational workloads.
  • Knowledge of cloud computing and enterprise data systems is a plus.
  • Comfortable in a fast-moving, lean team environment, working on high-impact projects.
  • Prior experience in an HPC support role is highly desirable.

Additional Details:

  • Remote role with periodic travel to Parsippany, NJ – first few weeks will require onsite work
  • No third-party inquiries of any kind. W2 or independent corp applications only.
  • Pay $70-100/hr.
