Job Description
Overview
The role of Lead Engineer/Designer is the main point of contact for the technical aspects of projects and a key contributor to company technical standards. They coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure that projects meet the requirements for scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Through training, research, and experience develop expertise in a subject area with sufficient depth to assist others in the design or implementation of those subject systems.
- Delivers technical training seminars inside the company, especially in their subject matter expertise.
- Works independently to produce technical designs based on criteria from the client and project manager.
- Provides on-going technical guidance to the design team.
- Ensures that the design team completes design work within the hours budgeted by the project manager.
- Works independently to lead project documentation efforts for all phases of a project based on direction from the client and project manager.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college required.
Qualifications
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.
Must-Have Skills
- At least 6 years of related building systems design experience.
- Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD
- Proficient in design software tools
- Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Review construction phase submittals
- Obtains approval prior spending over the project budget for hours.
