Our client is a very active, London-based mining PE fund looking for a seasoned, VP-level Mine Engineer with a deep understanding of underground mining. Based in their UAE office, you'll focus on two main areas: evaluating new investment opportunities through due diligence and working on capital projects within their portfolio companies. This role requires deep expertise in underground mining design, scheduling, cost estimation, contractor management, ventilation systems, and equipment automation.

What You'll Do:

1. Review & Analysis: Evaluate project data, mine plans, budgets, schedules, feasibility studies, and permits to identify risks and opportunities for optimization. Assess mining costs and operational plans to ensure feasibility and accuracy.
2. Cost Modeling & Budgeting: Create and manage detailed cost models (estimates, budgets, forecasts). Track trends and report cost impacts, including currency fluctuations and escalation.
3. Risk Management: Identify risks and opportunities in mine plans and execution strategies. Highlight critical project-specific issues for investment decisions.
4. Site Visits & Collaboration: Visit potential investment sites and ongoing portfolio projects to review and discuss mining operations with project managers. Provide expert input during sourcing and portfolio discussions.
5. Reporting & Audits: Review and audit NI 43-101 and JORC reports.
6. Support Portfolio Companies: Advise on mine design, development, and optimization. Monitor mining activities and ensure projects stay on track.

What You'll Bring:

• Ability to relocate to Abu Dhabi
• P.Eng.
• 15+ years of experience in UG mining ideally in both projects and operations environments.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and project valuation.
• The ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, both written and verbally.
• A self-starter who can work independently and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong familiarity with mining software like Deswik and Vulcan
