Director of Mitigation - Emergency Response Services

Job Overview: Our client, is seeking to add a NEW Director of Mitigation - Emergency Response Services to their team. The Director of Mitigation will lead all mitigation operations for a national emergency response and disaster recovery organization. This position is responsible for managing the strategic, operational, and financial aspects of the mitigation division—ensuring timely, compliant, and high-quality execution of projects across multiple large disaster sites. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader in disaster recovery, restoration, or environmental mitigation with the ability to direct large-scale teams, optimize operational performance, and maintain strong client and partner relationships.

This is a Direct Hire role.

Leadership & Strategy

• Execute mitigation strategy aligned with company goals and emergency response objectives for large storm events and XL projects
• Lead regional field teams in the planning and execution of mitigation projects including water, fire, mold, and environmental response operations.
• Driving execution of processes, evaluating and suggesting improvements in process, training the team, holding the team accountable to key metrics.
• Oversee personnel performance, training, and safety compliance across all mitigation projects driving results.

Operational Oversight

• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations, including FEMA, OSHA, and environmental standards.
• Manage project scopes, budgets, timelines, and resources to achieve operational excellence.
• Implement quality assurance and continuous improvement programs for all field operations.

Client & Partner Relations

• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during the mitigation phase.
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with insurance carriers, government agencies, and private-sector partners.
• Provide executive-level reporting, updates, and performance insights to stakeholders.

Financial Management

• Drive profitability through effective project cost control, resource allocation, and vendor management.
• Collaborate with executive leadership to develop division budgets, forecasts, and financial goals.

Emergency Deployment

• Coordinate rapid deployment of mitigation resources during major events or disasters.
• Lead on-site response operations when necessary (travel required up to 50%).

• Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• 10+ years of experience in emergency response, restoration, or mitigation, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Proven track record managing multi-site operations and teams in high-demand environments.
• Strong knowledge of FEMA Public Assistance, IICRC standards, and disaster response protocols.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Must reside in the Western Time Zone (west of Colorado) with ability to travel up to 75-80% domestically.
