Professional Land Surveyor

Active Iowa PLS License Required

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) to support and lead surveying efforts across a variety of infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on pipeline and linear developments. This role offers a dynamic mix of field coordination, technical review, and team collaboration within a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning:

  • Analyze deeds, plats, boundary points, and title documents to establish accurate baselines.

  • Assist in developing strategic field execution plans that align with project objectives and regulatory standards.

Project Execution:

  • Support Survey Crews, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators to ensure accurate and efficient survey operations.

  • Maintain active communication with field and office teams to resolve challenges and ensure adherence to specifications.

  • Review alignment sheets and key documents for accuracy and compliance.

Final Drafting & Certification:

  • Conduct secondary reviews of project drawings and provide detailed redlines.

  • Collaborate with drafting and technical teams to ensure high-quality, certifiable deliverables.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work within a multidisciplinary team that includes Project Managers, Coordinators, and Technicians.

  • Share knowledge and resources with other PLSs across the organization.

  • Adjust involvement levels based on project complexity and team capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Active Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Iowa or the ability to obtain through reciprocity.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional land surveying experience; pipeline or linear project experience is preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in analyzing legal documents and survey data.

  • Familiarity with modern surveying software, CAD tools, and drafting techniques.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lead, guide, and support teams effectively.

Travel:

  • Willingness to travel to project sites across Iowa as needed.
