Job Description

Strategic Staffing Solutions International Client - UK based fintech company that specialises in bank payments is looking for a talented Ruby on Rails Developer to join the team. You will work on backend features, integrations, data workflows, and enhancements that improve the platform for customers across multiple regions.

This role is ideal for developers with solid Ruby on Rails experience who want to deepen their technical expertise while contributing to customer-facing projects and cross-functional initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development

• Develop and maintain backend services using Ruby on Rails.
• Build and enhance APIs and integrations with customer systems.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, and support.

Data & Integrations

• Work with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, and background job systems.
• Optimize queries and support performance improvements.
• Contribute to integrations and asynchronous workflows.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Translate business and customer requirements into technical tasks with guidance from senior engineers or Product Managers.
• Participate in sprint planning and estimations.
• Collaborate with engineering, QA, and customer-facing teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Support customer questions with assistance from senior colleagues when needed.

Quality & Improvement

• Write unit and end-to-end tests.
• Participate in code reviews.
• Help identify and suggest process improvements.
• Maintain clean, well-structured, and documented code.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Experience working with databases, ideally including PostgreSQL or MongoDB.
• Familiarity with background job processing and asynchronous workflows.
• Understanding of modern development practices and APIs.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in Agile environments and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to fintech, e-commerce, or SaaS solutions.
• Experience with integrations or custom development for clients.
• Basic knowledge of serverless architecture or front-end frameworks such as Angular.
• Willingness to grow into mentoring and architectural responsibilities.
