Senior Containerization Engineer (Ab Initio / OpenShift / ETL Platform)

Location:  Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Duration:  12 Month Contract

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Containerization Engineer to support the modernization of a large-scale enterprise ETL platform. This role focuses on transforming a legacy VM-based deployment model into a containerized, automated, and cloud-enabled platform.

The engineer will be responsible for containerizing and enabling deployment of Ab Initio, a critical enterprise data integration product, onto OpenShift/Kubernetes, while building scalable deployment pipelines and automation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and implement containerization strategies for enterprise data platform components

Lead the migration from VM-based deployments to container-based (Kubernetes/OpenShift) infrastructure

Develop and maintain deployment pipelines for Ab Initio product components

Automate provisioning, deployment, and maintenance using infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD frameworks

Onboard multiple Ab Initio components into enterprise deployment mechanisms (EPOX)

Ensure all components are properly deployed and orchestrated within Kubernetes clusters

Support ETL platform operations responsible for moving data across:

• Private cloud environments
• MongoDB, Teradata, and enterprise data stores
• Administer and optimize platform performance via automation
• Collaborate cross-functionally with infrastructure, platform, and data engineering teams
• Take ownership of deliverables   proactively identify blockers and drive resolution

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience

• Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation
• Building and maintaining deployment pipelines (CI/CD)

• Experience working with large-scale enterprise platforms
• Proven ability to containerize complex applications

• Distributed systems
• Cloud infrastructure
• Deployment orchestration

Excellent communication skills:

• Must be able to clearly articulate technical concepts
• Strong written and verbal communication required

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Ab Initio (highly preferred)
• Background in ETL, data pipelines, or data platform engineering
  

Experience with:

• MongoDB, Teradata, or similar enterprise data systems
• Private cloud environments
• Experience onboarding applications into enterprise deployment frameworks
• Familiarity with financial services environments (nice to have, not required)

Certifications (Nice to Have)

• Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, etc.)
• Docker / containerization certifications
• Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or OpenShift)
