Job Title: Firewall Engineer (Palo Alto / Fortinet)
Locations: Irving, TX | Charlotte, NC | Chandler, AZ
Employment Type: 18 Month Contract
Pay: $70/hr
W2 ONLY, NO C2C
We are seeking a Firewall Engineer to join a large enterprise environment, focused on engineering, implementation, and optimization of firewall infrastructure. This is a true engineering role, not a firewall policy administration position. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Palo Alto and/or Fortinet technologies, along with a strong foundation in networking protocols and routing.
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise firewall solutions using Palo Alto and/or Fortinet technologies.
Engineer and optimize secure network architectures across large-scale environments.
Analyze and troubleshoot complex network and firewall-related issues, including routing and connectivity problems.
Support firewall migrations, upgrades, and infrastructure enhancements.
Collaborate with network, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure secure and scalable designs.
Evaluate and improve firewall performance, availability, and reliability.
Develop and utilize automation and scripting solutions to improve operational efficiency.
Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for network security events.
Strong hands-on experience with Palo Alto and/or Fortinet firewalls (required).
Solid understanding of network protocols and routing (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS).
Experience working in a large enterprise environment.
Proven ability to design and implement firewall infrastructure solutions.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with scripting or automation (e.g., Python, Bash).
Familiarity with network security best practices and frameworks.
Experience supporting large-scale or multi-site network environments.
Exposure to cloud networking or hybrid environments.
Successful delivery of scalable, secure firewall solutions.
Improved network performance and security posture through engineering enhancements.
Efficient resolution of complex network and firewall issues.
Increased automation and operational efficiency within firewall management processes.
This is a hands-on engineering role, not focused on firewall policy administration.
Candidates must have experience working within large enterprise environments.
