Continuous Improvement Specialist
Detroit, MI (Hybrid/onsite T, W, Th)

W2 contract role
2-year assignment potential

Job Summary

Works with all levels of the business unit (BU) to facilitate continuous improvement workshops. Must be a recognized industry expert in the field of lean operating systems or other continuous improvement change efforts such as Six Sigma or DMAIC. Responsible for utilizing problem solving tools to improve processes and get to the root cause of problems using lean methods, tools and practices. In addition, continuously scans for internal and external best practices to implement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provides support for the organization during project improvement selection, scoping, and delivery to ensure effective application of Lean Six Sigma tools and alignment with business goals and strategy
  • Ensures two-way communication throughout the organization for the continuous improvement process. This includes keeping the continuous improvement (CI) champions, sponsors, process owners, management, and project owners informed of the project status.
  • Identifies gaps proactively in the organization's performance and develop and execute strategic continuous improvement solutions to drive bottom line results.
  • Scans the industry for best practices of improvement tools and methods, proposes to Continuous Improvement Partnership Group (CIPG), and implements them as appropriate.
  • Provides support for the organization's project by facilitating problem solving workshops, advice, and prioritization of projects.
  • Leads and manages the dynamics of high-impact cross-functional projects and business-wide improvement initiatives.
  • Conducts Lean/Six Sigma training, identify Business Unit training candidate pool, and provides input on appropriate capacity
  • Utilizes lean principles, methods and tools to design, implement, improve, monitor, and align the tools into the way work is performed.
  • Identifies, suggests, and implements best practices to facilitate effective solutions and methods that will improve processes in all areas of the business.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, science, or a related discipline, & 8 years of experience in implementing change initiatives, inclusive of 5 years of supervisory, lead worker or project management experience.
  • Must have implementation experience in Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC or other performance operating systems; a mastery of process variability reduction (Six Sigma) and waste reduction (Lean) principles, and; presented training at all levels & phases of projects.
  • Lean Six Sigma / Six Sigma Black belt certified, or equivalent experience using advanced Lean/Statistical methodologies solving complex/significant issues.
Preferred
  • Master's degree in a job-relevant discipline
  • Master black belt certified
