Role Overview
The Business Process Engineer is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating complex, end-to-end business processes. This role owns process definition, requirements evaluation, design, testing, and implementation while ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy, customer experience objectives, performance standards, and risk controls.
The role focuses on process optimization, governance, performance management, and continuous improvement, with accountability for minimizing failures, eliminating redundancies, and driving efficient, compliant execution across dependent processes.
Key Responsibilities
Process Ownership & Strategy
- Own and manage complex business processes end-to-end, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy and experience vision.
- Develop and implement customer-specific process program plans and influence supporting roadmaps.
- Apply deep business expertise to materially improve operational performance through process design and execution.
- Serve as a functional expert, bringing diverse perspectives to develop end-user-focused process solutions.
Performance Management & Controls
- Define control limits and performance standards for owned processes.
- Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) and proactively communicate deficiencies, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Identify, execute, and enhance process controls to mitigate operational and compliance risks.
- Ensure risks are identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies.
Continuous Improvement & Analytics
- Use reporting, data, and analytics to measure process and project performance.
- Deliver operational efficiencies and inform stakeholders through actionable insights.
- Apply quality management, process improvement, and problem-solving methodologies.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate opportunities for continuous process improvement.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Develop and execute communication plans for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment across internal teams and customers using proactive engagement strategies.
- Collaborate across business and technology teams on process initiatives and services.
Solution Development & Change Leadership
- Lead solution development efforts, including business case development and benefits substantiation.
- Drive business requirements for process improvement initiatives.
- Act as a change champion, implementing and sustaining improvements across the organization.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members and business partners.
Additional Team-Specific Responsibilities
- Support vendor performance management related to:
- Estimate quality
- Member satisfaction
- Inspection method strategy and utilization for property claims
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree
OR - An additional 4 years of related experience may substitute for a degree
Experience
- 6+ years of experience in:
- Business process execution
- Process engineering or optimization
- Consulting or operational process leadership
- Hands-on experience with process mapping and modeling
- Proven ability to create and validate process documentation
- Experience applying quality management, Lean, BPM, or similar methodologies
- Demonstrated success implementing and sustaining process change
- Experience applying process management standards, policies, and risk management practices
- Strong experience using systems and tools to collect and analyze data
