Job Title: Margin Lending Analyst

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Job Summary

The Margin Lending Analyst will support the team by delivering operational excellence across margin calculation, monitoring, and exception management. This role is critical to ensuring regulatory compliance, effective risk mitigation, and high-quality client service for advisors and clients.

The position offers early responsibility, broad exposure through cross-training, and the opportunity to contribute ideas that enhance processes and controls. The analyst will work closely with internal partners across Credit, Risk, Sales, Technology, and Operations, requiring strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Margin Call Issuance & Monitoring:

    • Perform daily margin calculations and validate margin call amounts.

    • Issue margin calls in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Exception Handling & Risk Management:

    • Monitor, investigate, and resolve margin exceptions, including non-call issuance and late liquidations.

    • Ensure timely escalation and risk mitigation in line with control frameworks.

  • Manual Margin Support:

    • Perform manual margin calculations and overrides for high-value or complex client accounts not supported by automated systems.

  • Regulatory Governance:

    • Apply margin regulations and rules, including Reg T and FINRA Rule 4210.

    • Ensure compliance with firm-wide governance and control standards.

  • Client & Stakeholder Interaction:

    • Respond to incoming queries and resolve client disputes and margin-related issues.

    • Partner closely with Risk, Credit, Sales, and Technology teams to address inquiries and resolve issues efficiently.

  • Reporting & Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate records of margin activity.

    • Support audits, regulatory reviews, and control documentation updates.

  • Process Improvement & Projects:

    • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance team processes, controls, and efficiency.

    • Participate in and manage projects and initiatives within the team and across regions.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Solid understanding of operational products, risks, controls, and escalation processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort handling large datasets and numerical analysis.

  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and career-oriented with a strong team mindset.

  • Demonstrated desire for continuous improvement and new challenges.

  • Strong Excel skills preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong client-service orientation.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of product flows and systems, including OTC derivatives and intercompany processes.
