Communication Strategist
Detroit, MI (Hybrid/onsite T, W, Th)
6+ Months with possibility of extension
W2 contract role

Job Summary

Responsible for writing effective external and internal messaging consistent with established business goals and objectives. In addition, the role will work with internal teams and business partners to develop and execute messaging tactics/collateral across a range of media and channels and will handle coordination and communications for internal and external events.

Key Responsibilities

• Writes articles, blog posts, social posts, promotional materials (emails, handouts, web pages, etc.) and other messaging aimed external (customers, media, community leaders and other stakeholders) and internal (employees) audiences.
• Works with internal design, digital, social and advertising teams as well as business unit partners to develop and execute messaging deliverables (ads and other collateral) that achieve business objectives.
• Coordinates and executes communications for external and internal events, creating messaging for and interacting with media, speakers and other stakeholders.
• Manages multiple projects concurrently, ensuring budget compliance and achievement of strategic communication objectives.
• Researches topics and gathers intelligence to inform messaging.

Skill Requirements

• Writing and editing (PR and/or marketing emphasis)
• Social media strategy and copywriting

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field
• 3+ years of related experience

Preferred Experience

• Experience in energy industry or similar field
• Experience pitching/responding to media

Other Requirements

• Proficient written and oral communications
• Proficient proofreading skills to ensure error-free work
• Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines
