Sr Oracle Database Administrator

Location: Minneapolis, MN 
Duration: 12 Months Hybrid Schedule
Pay: $55-$65


About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to join the Database Administration team. This role supports database environments across critical energy service areas, including Distribution, Transmission, and Nuclear, as well as other regulated applications.

The Senior DBA will partner with application support and infrastructure teams on projects of varying size and complexity, serving as both diagnostician and technical expert for database performance, reliability, and governance. This individual will be responsible for ensuring high availability, performance optimization, and data integrity while contributing to broader data strategy and governance initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level database administration for Oracle and SQL Server environments, including backup and recovery, performance tuning, and business continuity planning.

  • Partner with application and infrastructure teams to design and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable database systems.

  • Drive data management and governance practices across projects and ensure alignment with enterprise standards.

  • Act as a consultant on data-related aspects of new and evolving IT solutions, ensuring best practices in architecture and integration.

  • Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure proactive issue resolution.

  • Support disaster recovery and data replication strategies across production and non-production environments.

  • Provide technical expertise in data analytics, integration, and visualization, enabling data-driven decision-making.

  • Identify and recommend automation, optimization, and modernization opportunities across database platforms.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of 8+ years of experience.

  • Proven experience in Oracle Database Administration (12c, 19c, 21c) and SQL Server Administration (2014–2022).

  • Expertise in database backup and recovery, performance tuning, and high availability architectures.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, data integrity, and distributed computing.

  • Experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, or predictive analytics in data-centric environments.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services, and data replication technologies (mirroring, log shipping, replication).

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, and Automatic Storage Management (ASM).

  • Experience performing major version upgrades of Oracle and SQL Server databases.

  • Proficiency in T-SQL, PL/SQL, PowerShell, and Shell scripting.

  • Familiarity with Windows/SQL Server Clustering and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster configurations.

  • Experience managing PostgreSQL and MySQL environments.
