Sensitive Data Detection & Remediation Analyst
Riverwoods, IL (Remote)
6+ Months W2 contract role

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled contractor to support our Sensitive Data Detection and Remediation initiative. This individual will play a critical role in identifying, managing, and remediating incidents involving restricted data across end-user repositories. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data security concepts, hands-on experience with data discovery tools like BigID, and the ability to drive remediation efforts in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage incidents via ServiceNow, including triage, prioritization, and closure.
  • Generate and analyze reports to identify trends, prioritize work, and escalate high-risk findings.
  • Collaborate with end users to validate findings, resolve false positives, and guide remediation of true positives.
  • Lead office hours to support users with remediation efforts and provide technical guidance.
  • Communicate progress and blockers effectively to management and stakeholders.
  • Hold incident owners accountable for timely action and resolution.
  • Identify systemic issues such as classification misses or high-risk data concentrations and recommend drive-level remediation strategies.
  • Support data migration efforts using tools like ShareGate to move restricted data from unapproved to approved locations.
  • Execute daily scans of end-user repositories (e.g., shared network drives, OneDrive, SharePoint) using BigID or similar tools to detect sensitive data.

Required Skills:

  • Strong understanding of data security principles and sensitive data handling.
  • Experience with BigID or similar data discovery/classification platforms.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or other incident management systems.
  • Proficiency in report generation and data analysis to support prioritization and trend identification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for user engagement and stakeholder reporting.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-paced environment with daily incident closure expectations.
  • Experience with data migration tools and processes, especially ShareGate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in cybersecurity, data governance, or compliance roles.
  • Experience leading user training or support sessions.
