Job Title: Derivatives Operations Analyst
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Pay Rate: $23/HR on W2 Only
Setting: Onsite Required
Duration: 6+ months.
We are seeking a Derivatives Operations Analyst to join our team in a critical middle/back office function. This role requires strong knowledge of derivative products, the trade lifecycle, and operational processes to ensure accurate trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and risk control. The position offers excellent exposure to trading desks, risk, compliance, and legal teams, with clear pathways into more senior roles across the organization.
Manage the end-to-end derivatives trade lifecycle, including capture, confirmation, settlement, margin/collateral, and lifecycle events (e.g., exercises, expirations, assignments, novations, unwinds).
Support middle and back-office functions by reconciling and resolving trade breaks, discrepancies, and exceptions.
Coordinate with trading desks, clients, and counterparties to ensure timely affirmation/confirmation of trades.
Work with documentation teams on ISDA agreements, master agreements, and other legal/regulatory requirements.
Assist in risk management processes, including monitoring cash flows, margin calls, and collateral movements.
Perform data analysis and reporting using Excel and other tools (SQL knowledge is a plus).
Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency.
Support compliance initiatives and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
1–5 years of professional experience in derivatives operations, middle office, back office, or related functions.
Strong understanding of derivative products (options, futures, swaps, OTC and exchange-traded derivatives).
Knowledge of trade lifecycle processes, including settlement, margin, and lifecycle events.
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work across teams (trading, risk, legal, compliance).
Proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables); SQL or similar data tools a plus.
Preferred:
Experience with ISDA agreements and trade documentation.
Prior exposure to regulatory requirements and compliance within derivatives markets.
Experience with automation tools, reporting systems, or process improvement initiatives.
