Title: Sr. Project Manager
Location: Livonia, MI (On-Site and some Remote)
Duration: 6+ Months
Role Type: W2 Contract Engagement
POSITION PURPOSE
• This position will reside within the Transformation Management Office (TMO). Main concentration will be project management of applications project, but depending on the need within the TMO, this individual may be assigned to other areas. Knowledge of. Health Care Industry would be great.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Plans, manages and oversees development and implementation phases and
processes of project management life cycle. Manages medium to large scope
projects across the enterprise.
• Prepares, monitors and manages project plans involving pre-approved
initiatives established by senior leadership. Identifies and finalizes project
scope and objectives; defines team member roles, activities and functional
responsibilities. Identifies detailed tasks and timeline.
• Develops, monitors and manages project budget (i.e., analysis,
reconciliation, forecasting, expenditure authorization, personnel needs,
tracking and reporting) as required by TIS operations.
• Plans project team members’ work, assigns tasks and monitors progress.
• Includes day-to-day problem resolution and troubleshooting; serves as a key
resource concerning all project processes, managing deliverables and project
progression. Identifies areas that present challenges and opportunities and make recommendations that provide practical options and solutions.
• May provide staff assignments to project team members, generally in a matrix
work environment. Serves as technical resource and provides analytical and
practical guidance to project team members and lower level Project Managers.
• Manages customer relations to ensure customers are actively engaged
throughout the project life cycle. Works with customers to ensure business
process workflows, training and communication plans are completed. Provides
appropriate tools, training, guidance and necessary resources to resolve
problems, avert potential risks and maintain customer engagement
• Keep project teams, enterprise business sponsors and TIS
leadership apprised through routine communications, reports and status meetings to ensure project plans and deliverables are met; potential risks are quickly identified. and resolved, and customer expectations are reached.
• Facilitates meetings with business owners and key stakeholders to gather
scope requirements (i.e., business workflow mapping and impact analysis, product selection, resources, timelines and costs). Collaborates with senior management and project sponsors to identify project stakeholders and determine project goals, scope and vision. Develops documents for project initiation based on scope requirements (i.e., Project Charter, Statement of Work, Work Plans).
• May manage vendor relationships and consultants.
• Analyzes business needs and requirements and provides technical guidance to
management and key decision-makers in determining selection of appropriate
software, hardware and IS solutions which support business needs, strategic
goals and established TIS standards.
• Conducts post project analysis. Meets with business owners to conduct
project closure activities. Prepares outstanding issues and lessons learned
documentation. Close out project related tracking systems and transition project over to operational status if needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related
field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
2. Three to five years experience with managing progressively complex projects
and ability to apply appropriate project management methodology.
3. Demonstrated ability in analyzing customer requirements and developing basic
information systems solutions typically acquired through three to five years of
directly related experience in a particular product line or technology solution.
4. Knowledge of and experience with change control, risk management, project
planning, team management, budgeting and scheduling.
5. Ability to manage multiple and ever-changing priorities.
6. Ability to communicate with non-technical leaders and business owners
providing a clear understanding of appropriate technology solutions to support
and enhance business needs.
7. Considerable knowledge of and experience in developing and managing project
budgets and staffing needs.
8. Considerable knowledge of multiple technologies and experience with
enterprise-wide applications and systems in an integrated work environment.
9. Project Management coursework or PMP certification preferred.
