We are seeking an experienced Controller in Watkinsville, GA, to lead and direct the accounting operations for our company and its statewide activities. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record with companies generating $100M+ in revenue, bringing strategic financial expertise to drive our continued growth.
Oversees the Accounting Department, managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.
Directs training programs and identifies training needs for the accounting team.
Establishes and maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures, implementing controls to minimize risk.
Oversees the preparation of periodic financial reports, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Develops benchmarks to measure company performance.
Prepares the annual budget and forecasts, reporting significant variances to leadership.
Conducts financial analysis focused on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
Collaborates with external auditors, providing necessary information for the annual audit.
Files quarterly and annual reports with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
Proficiency in accounting and tax preparation software.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
10+ years of related experience in accounting or financial management, with a strong preference for a background in civil construction companies.
Experience with companies generating $100M+ in revenue is essential.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation preferred.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
