RCS Staffing has an immediate need for multiple Field Technicians in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. This is a full-time contract-to-permanent hire field-based assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive hourly rate and opportunities for long-term career advancement.
Our client is seeking 2–3+ Field Technicians to support utility pole inspection and data collection projects. This role involves both field and office work, safety assessments, data entry, and teamwork to ensure the quality and accuracy of utility infrastructure information.
• Perform a daily Job Hazard Analysis (safety checks) before field activities.
• Plan and coordinate daily work with supervisors.
• Measure poles using a hot stick (training provided).
• Identify and correct safety hazards on poles.
• Conduct field surveying, data collection, and post-survey verification.
• Use Fulcrum software (transitioning soon to Katapult) for data entry and project tracking.
• Work in two-person field teams to inspect approximately 10 poles per hour.
• Drive company (Pike) trucks; mileage reimbursed if using personal vehicles.
• Maintain strong safety awareness and adherence to procedures.
• Occasionally travel overnight as required by project needs.
• Technical aptitude and ability to use field and computer applications.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to think critically in the field.
• A team-oriented mindset and willingness to ask questions and learn.
• Ability to travel when needed.
• Prior experience with field data collection or utility pole inspection.
• Familiarity with mobile data collection tools such as Fulcrum or Catapult.
• Interest in growing into a Power Engineering Technologist, Design, or Project Management role.
• New hires will begin with several days of basic and safety training, including identifying field conditions and understanding pole structures.
• You will then be paired with an experienced Field Tech for several weeks to learn on-site procedures and data standards.
• Training concludes with the new hire taking the lead on field work under the supervision of their trainer.
• The goal is to provide a clear path for growth from Field Tech to Design and Engineering roles.
