RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Lead Mechanical Engineer in Chattanooga, TN. This is a full-time direct-hire hybrid assignment with our client. This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation, and holidays.
Our client is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join their nuclear services team and support the design, analysis, and construction of nuclear facilities. This is a strategic growth opportunity to lead the Nuclear Division Mechanical Engineering discipline and contribute to a growing commercial nuclear project portfolio.
• Oversee proposal development and mentor engineers on deliverables for nuclear projects
• Serve as technical point of contact and lead discipline-specific engineering teams
• Prepare and review design change packages and scoping documents
• Conduct field walkdowns and perform mechanical design activities
• Interface with clients and internal teams under a matrixed organization
• Support project engineering efforts for multi-discipline proposals and act as Project Engineer as needed
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
• PE license (required)
• Minimum 8 years of mechanical engineering experience
• At least 4 years of experience in nuclear design (commercial or DOE)
• Experience with Industry Standard Design Procedure IP-ENG-001
• Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, API, and NFPA codes
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to travel to plant sites (approx. 6–8 days/month)
• Master’s degree or other advanced degree in engineering
• Experience with multiple operating nuclear clients and vendors
• Previous unescorted access to operating or construction nuclear plants
• Proficiency with software tools such as Bluebeam, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Vault, Plant3D, Inventor, ReCap, SolidWorks, or FARO Scene
